Job Opportunity: Ultrasound Tech - General

Location: Massena, New York
Employment Type: Travel/Contract

Shift: Day shift, 4 days per week, 10 hours per day (8:00 AM - 6:00 PM)

Job Description

• Accepting first-time travelers.
• Requires 1 year of specialty experience in Radiology/Cardiology.
• Community hospital experience is required.
• Call schedule: every 3rd day after 6 PM and every 3rd weekend.
• Patient population includes pediatric to adult.
• Procedures include basic ultrasound exams such as OB, abdominal, DVT, carotids, breast, thoracentesis, and paracentesis.
• Outpatient work setting experience is required.
• Preferred experience with biopsies.
• Common invasive procedures performed on this unit.

Required Certifications and Licenses

• NY State Ultrasound license must be in hand.
• ARDMS certification required.
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.

Preferred Certifications:

• ARRT Sonography
• RDMS in Abdomen, OB, Breast, Pediatrics
• RVT (Registered Vascular Technologist)

Required Qualifications

• Ultrasound Technologist with at least 1 year of experience.
• Recent ultrasound technologist experience within the last year.
• ARDMS certification.
• BLS certification.
• Experience working in an outpatient setting.
• Community hospital experience.

Health and Safety Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually.
• Fit mask test within 1 year of start, updated annually (specific mask models required; PAPR exemption available if fit test failed).
• Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccination within 10 years (Td not accepted).
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start; if positive, additional documentation required.
• Immunizations or positive titers required for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (surface antibody positive, completed series, or declination)
  • Varicella
• Drug screening required within 30 days of start (specific panels depending on booking date).
• Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination required during flu season.
• Snellen eye exam within 1 year of start.
• Annual harassment prevention training required.
• Medication/pharmacology competency exam as required by profession.
• Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required for all candidates except certain specialties.

Documentation and Verification

• Two professional references required.
• Employment application and skills checklist (updated annually) required.
• 7-year work history verification required; attestation letter accepted as last resort.
• Online verification of certifications/licenses required within 30 days of start.
• State license verification required within 30 days of start.
• NURSYS verification required for RN/LPN licenses within 30 days of start.

• Prior travel experience is not required.
• This position requires call coverage every third day and every third weekend.
