Description

Registered Nurse - PCU (Night Shift) - South Carolina

Location

  • City: Beaufort, SC

Employment Type

  • Travel / Contract
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks

Shift Details

  • Night shift
  • 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (19:00 - 7:00)
  • Total 36 hours per week

Unit & Patient Care

  • Primary unit: Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
  • Floating required across Stepdown, ICU, and Medical-Surgical units
  • Patient ratio: 1 nurse to 4-5 patients
  • Unit size: 21 beds
  • Care includes stable patients on non-titrating drips (Amiodarone, NTG, Cardizem, Lopressor, Cardene)
  • Experience with vascular cases (fem-pop bypass, carotid endarterectomy), NSTEMI, post-cardiac catheterization with intervention
  • Care for patients on CIWA protocol receiving IVP Ativan (no Presidex)
  • Experience with peritoneal dialysis, stable BiPAP, heated high flow oxygen (<80%), home ventilators (Trilogy)
  • Wound care, nebulizer treatments, and hemodialysis in dialysis department
  • EMR system: Meditech

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in South Carolina
  • Minimum 1 year of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience within the last year
  • ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification

Dress Code

  • Scrubs: Royal Blue and White

Orientation & Training

  • Orientation every Wednesday
  • Approximately 81 Relias modules to be completed prior to first shift and orientation
  • Orientation time may be logged up to 8 hours

Additional Requirements & Compliance

  • Must be willing to work within a 50-mile radius of the facility
  • Background checks required (criminal, SSN trace, county searches, nationwide sex offender)
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and for contract renewals
  • Primary source verification of state license and NURSYS verification required
  • Medication and pharmacology competency exams required as applicable
  • Physical exam attesting ability to meet physical demands required
  • Immunizations and health screenings required:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years or declination)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
    • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella titers or vaccinations (or declination)
    • Hepatitis B titer or vaccine series (or declination)
    • Varicella titer or vaccinations (or declination)
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or declination
    • COVID vaccination or declination
  • Drug testing: 10-panel within 30 days of start (instant tests not accepted)
  • Badge photo required (no hats, sunglasses, shadows, or altered images)
  • Proof of 2 clinical references required
  • Performance evaluation required if previously worked through any agency
  • Skills checklist must be updated annually
  • Internal evaluation required if employed over 2 years with the facility

This position is ideal for experienced ICU RNs comfortable with floating across multiple critical care units and managing complex cardiac and respiratory patients in a progressive care setting during night shifts.
