Registered Nurse (RN) - Med Surg (Nights)

Location: West Des Moines, Iowa
Employment Type: Temporary
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Night shift position on a Medical-Surgical unit with a 34-bed capacity.
• Patient population includes orthopedics and total joint replacements.
• Administer specific cardiac IV medications and intravenous push (highly preferred).
• Required to float across multiple campuses within the local area.
• Work schedule includes 36-40 hours/week with overtime after 40 hours.
• Required to work 1-2 of 3 upcoming summer holidays (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day) unless the unit is closed.
• Nurse-to-patient ratios: Days 1:5, Nights 1:6.
• Uniform: Navy blue solid scrubs.
• EMR system used: EPIC.

Required Qualifications

• Active Iowa RN license or compact/multistate license at time of submission.
• Minimum 24 months of Medical-Surgical experience in a hospital or medical center setting.
• Orthopedics/Rehabilitation experience required.
• Experience with total joint replacement and braces care required.
• EPIC EMR experience required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from AHA or ARC required.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Skills checklist specific to Medical-Surgical or Medical-Surgical/Telemetry discipline required.
• Professional reference or performance evaluation within the last 24 months preferred.

• Orientation is scheduled for 7/20.
• First-time travelers are accepted.
• Call back and on-call pay available (details not included here).
• Employee separation policy restricts certain past employees from working travel contracts in this market.
