Description
Registered Nurse - Emergency Department
Location: Longview, Texas
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights (8 PM - 8 AM)
Work Schedule: 3 days per week, 12-hour shifts
Start Date: ASAP
Job Summary
- Provide independent nursing care in an emergency department setting, managing routine and complex patient needs.
- Utilize the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation.
- Address psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families.
- Administer medications and treatments per protocol, monitoring for side effects and effectiveness.
- Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided.
- Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, families, and caregivers.
- Make appropriate assignments and delegate tasks to other care providers.
Required Qualifications
Education
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
Experience
- Minimum 1 year of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience within the last year.
Licenses and Certifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification.
Orientation and Onboarding
- Newly hired experienced RNs must complete New Nurses Orientation within 30 days of hire.
- New hires will be precepted by a trained staff member and must successfully complete organizational and Emergency Department-specific competency validations.
- Newly licensed RNs may participate in a residency or specific orientation program with documented skills and competency completion.
- Completion of all annual competency verification requirements is mandatory.
Additional Information
- This is a full-time travel position requiring night shifts.
- The role involves leadership expectations consistent with professional nursing competencies.
