Speech and Language Pathologist (SLP) - Temp, Long Term Care (LTC)

Job Description

• Screen, evaluate, and rehabilitate patients with communication, cognitive, or swallowing disorders.
• Develop and implement appropriate plans of care following regulatory and clinical practice standards.
• Utilize standardized assessments and evidence-based practices to support clinical interventions.
• Assess patient progress and adjust treatments accordingly; evaluate treatment outcomes and modify services as needed.
• Provide consultation and counseling to patients, families, caregivers, and other service providers regarding speech disorders.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors and healthcare team members about patient progress, barriers, and treatment plans.
• Document all required information accurately in electronic records, including treatment minutes and discharge summaries.
• Participate in patient care conferences, utilization review meetings, rehabilitation meetings, and required trainings.
• Obtain necessary durable medical equipment (DME) or supplies per regulatory and clinical requirements.
• Supervise and support Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) or Student Speech-Language Pathologists.
• Adhere to ASHA and State practice acts, code of conduct, and ethics during professional practice.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Speech Language Pathologist license in Missouri
• Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from ASHA
• Minimum 1 year of Speech-Language Pathology experience within the last year
• Experience in Long Term Care and Rehabilitation settings
• Experience in supervisory roles

  • Evaluating therapists: 88-90% productivity
  • Assistants: 90-93% productivity
• Typical treatment times for SLP: approximately 30 minutes per session.
• Caseload may range from 10-14 patients per day depending on evaluation load.
• Group therapy is allowed and encouraged to help with productivity.
• Each therapist typically has a dedicated device for documentation.
