Registered Nurse – ICU

Location: Marion, Illinois
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Shift: 12-hour nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week (48 hours accepted upon request)
• Weekend/Holiday Requirement: Every other weekend and every other holiday rotation
• Float Requirement: May float to step-down level care if needed
• On Call/Call Back: Not required
• Unit Size: 18 beds (mix of ICU and step-down patients)
• Patient Ratios: ICU 2:1, Step-down 3:1
• Charge Nurse: Yes, charge nurse takes patients
• Scrubs: Navy Blue
• COVID-19 Vaccine: Not required (subject to change)
• Orientation: Bi-weekly start dates beginning 8/10; GSA hours not guaranteed during orientation week

Required Qualifications

• Current Illinois RN license
• Certifications: AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, NIHSS
• Minimum Experience: 2 years ICU experience (prefer 3 years)
• Prior Travel Experience: At least 1 prior travel assignment required

Required Skills

• Strong neuro assessment skills including NIHSS and dysphagia screening
• Telemetry/EKG interpretation (exam on first day)
• Endotracheal tube (ETT) and ventilator management (RT support available)
• Ability to initiate and titrate sedatives, paralytics, cardiac drips, vasoactive agents, insulin, etc.
• Knowledge of sepsis protocols and post-ROSC therapeutic hypothermia protocol
• Strong assessment and critical thinking skills
• Resilient, adaptable to change, and able to work well in a team environment

Preferred Skills

• tPA administration and assessments
• Experience with massive transfusion protocols

Additional Notes

• No local candidates within a 40-mile radius will be considered
• Unit has a strong core group of staff; traveler support needed due to increased volume
