Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse
Location: Issaquah, Washington
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Specialty areas include Orthopedics (sports medicine focus), General Surgery, Urology, Gynecology, Spine, ENT (circulating and scrub roles), Total Joints, Neuro/Spine, OB-GYN, Plastics, Robotics, Trauma, and Vascular.
- Patient care distribution: approximately 30% inpatient, 70% outpatient, 10% pediatrics.
- Responsibilities include circulating and scrub roles with a preference for scrub experience in trauma and ENT with endoscope experience.
- Required clinical skills: robotics, procedure sedation, blood/blood products administration, drains, epidural pumps, PICC/central lines, port-a-cath/vascular device access and care, wound vac management.
- Floating to other campuses may be required.
- On-call shifts are 12 hours (7 pm to 7 am weekdays; weekends/holidays either 7 pm to 7 am or 7 am to 7 pm), shared among approximately 15 RNs. Weekend coverage is for on-call support only.
Shift Details
- Day shift, 4 days per week, 10 hours per day (7:00 am to 5:30 pm)
- Total 40 hours per week
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Washington
- Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Experience with robotics in the OR
- Procedure sedation experience
- Experience administering blood and blood products
- Drain management skills
- Epidural pump management
- PICC line and central line management
- Port-A-Cath and vascular device access and care
- Wound vac management
- ENT surgery experience
Required Documentation and Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID).
- Social Security Card (as applicable for I9 verification).
- Background check within 90 days covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years; must be updated annually.
- Education verification required for nursing degree; international education requires diploma/transcript or CES report.
- NURSYS license verification required.
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO, confirming ability to work with or without accommodation.
- Immunizations and health requirements:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap within 10 years (declination accepted).
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually.
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity via vaccination or positive titer (declination accepted).
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination.
- Varicella immunity via vaccination or positive titer (declination accepted).
- Seasonal flu vaccine during flu season (declination accepted).
- COVID-19 vaccination record preferred; declinations not required but unvaccinated must follow infection prevention protocols.
- Drug screening: 9-panel drug screen within 12 months of start; instants acceptable.
- Respiratory safety clearance required annually for respirator use (travel only).
- Photo for badge (passport style with neutral background) required.
- Completion of annual regulatory and specialty-specific training modules via LMS (Workramp).
- References: minimum of 2 references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting.
- Employment application covering at least the last 5 years of employment with month/year format for dates.
Additional Requirements
- Floating policy acknowledgment required; may be required to float to other facilities within reasonable distance.
- On-call availability as described above.
Summary
This is a travel Registered Nurse position in the Operating Room with a focus on orthopedic and surgical specialties, requiring a minimum of 2 years RN experience. The role involves day shifts with on-call responsibilities, floating between campuses, and a broad range of clinical skills including robotics and vascular access. First-time travelers are welcome. Comprehensive licensure, certifications, health screenings, and background checks are mandatory. Annual training and compliance with facility policies are required.
