Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse

Location: Issaquah, Washington
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Specialty areas include Orthopedics (sports medicine required), General Surgery, Urology, Gynecology, Spine, ENT (circulate and scrub preferred), Total Joints, Neuro/Spine, OB-GYN, Plastics, Robotics, Trauma, and Vascular.
  • Patient care distribution: 30% inpatient, 70% outpatient, 10% pediatrics.
  • Responsibilities include circulating and scrub roles with preference for robotics and ENT experience (ENT with endoscope experience preferred).
  • On-call shifts are 12 hours (weekdays 7 pm to 7 am; weekends/holidays either 7 pm to 7 am or 7 am to 7 pm), shared among approximately 15 RNs. Weekend coverage is for on-call support only.
  • Floating to other campuses may be required.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Washington State.
  • Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) nursing experience, including experience within the last year.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
  • Certifications:
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by American Heart Association or Heart and Stroke Foundation.
    • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) issued by American Heart Association.
    • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) issued by American Heart Association.
    • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP).
  • Clinical skills and experience in:
    • Robotics.
    • Procedure sedation.
    • Blood and blood products administration.
    • Drain management.
    • Epidural pump management.
    • PICC and central line management.
    • Port-A-Cath and vascular device access and care.
    • Wound Vac management.
    • ENT surgery experience.

Shift Details

  • Day shift, 5 days a week, 8 hours per day (7:00 AM to 3:30 PM).
  • 40 hours per week.

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID and Social Security Card required.
  • Background check within 90 days covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years; must be updated annually.
  • Education verification required for nursing degree; international education requires additional documentation.
  • NURSYS license verification required.
  • Drug screening: 9-panel drug screen within 12 months of start.
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO, confirming ability to work.
  • Immunizations and health screenings required:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years; declination accepted)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer; declination accepted)
    • Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer (declination accepted)
    • Seasonal flu vaccine during flu season (declination accepted)
    • COVID vaccination record preferred; declinations accepted with adherence to masking policies
  • Respiratory safety clearance required annually for respirator use.
  • Fit mask testing required for travel starts (updated annually).
  • References: Minimum 2 references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting within the last 3 years.
  • Employment application covering at least the last 5 years required.

Additional Requirements

  • Completion of annual regulatory and specialty-specific training modules via assigned learning management system.
  • Photo for badge with neutral background required.
  • Acknowledgement of float policy; may be required to float to other facilities within reasonable distance.

  • Previous permanent staff at the facility are not permitted to work as travelers here.
  • Active compact nursing licenses are honored.
  • Candidates with international nursing education must provide additional verification (e.g., CES report).
  • Background checks will not approve open/active felony cases or more than one DUI charge.
  • On-call shifts and floating requirements may affect scheduling flexibility.
