Registered Nurse – Progressive Care Unit (PCU) – Ohio, Columbus
Job Details
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: Rotating 3x12-hour shifts (Day/Night), approximately 36 hours per week
- Schedule: Weekdays and some weekends; rotating holidays required
- Unit: Progressive Care Unit (PCU) – Lower Acuity Cardiac
- Patient Ratio: 1:3-4
- Floating: Required to float to different units within the organization as needed (units of similar or lower acuity)
- Preferred Experience: Cardiac experience preferred
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio
- Minimum 2 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience, specifically in Cardiac PCU
- Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience within the last year
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience with Epic Electronic Health Record system
Background and Compliance Requirements
- 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, including FBI and BCI fingerprinting (Ohio-specific code 3701.881)
- Education verification from an accredited nursing program (CCNE, ACEN, or NLN CNEA)
- Monthly monitoring through workforce systems (EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG)
- Pending background check attestation required if fingerprint results are pending at start
- Subcontractors must complete a background acknowledgement form prior to start
Health and Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and free of contagious disease
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year; annual TB questionnaire required
- Immunizations/vaccinations:
- Tdap (adult dose after age 11/12)
- 2 MMR vaccines or positive titers for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, and Rubella
- Hepatitis B titer or 3-vaccine series (declination acceptable)
- Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer (medical exemptions require documentation)
- Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season (10/1 - 3/31)
- Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start (no pending tests allowed)
- Fit mask testing required annually for inpatient/patient-facing roles starting 7/13/2026 (3M 1860/1870+ or Halyard Duckbill masks accepted)
Competency and Training Requirements
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required prior to start
- Unit-specific competency exam required
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required within 1 year of start and updated annually (minimum passing score 76%)
- Orientation safety manual acknowledgement required annually
- NIH Stroke Certification may be required depending on unit (verify with recruiter)
Documentation and Other Requirements
- Two professional references required; at least one must be from a manager or formal leadership (charge RN acceptable as second reference)
- Employment application required (including education for nursing candidates)
- Skills checklist required
- License verification and NURSYS verification required within 30 days of start
- Background and fingerprinting documentation must be uploaded as per facility guidelines
- Candidates must review and sign dress code and hand hygiene policies
- Fraud, Waste, and Abuse training certificate required prior to start and updated annually
- Confidential Fraud Waste Abuse and Compliance Reporting Mechanism form required
