Speech and Language Pathologist (SLP) - Temp Position
Location: Hondo, Texas
Shift: Days
Hours per Day: 8
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Screen, evaluate, and rehabilitate patients with communication, cognitive, or swallowing disorders.
- Develop and implement appropriate plans of care following regulatory and clinical practice standards.
- Utilize standardized assessments and evidence-based practices to support clinical interventions.
- Assess patient progress and adjust treatments accordingly, documenting in clinical records per regulatory requirements.
- Evaluate treatment outcomes and modify services based on patient evaluations; make referrals as needed.
- Provide consultation and counseling to patients, families, caregivers, and other service providers regarding speech disorders.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and healthcare team members about patient progress, barriers, and treatment plans.
- Prepare comprehensive discharge summaries in compliance with regulatory and clinical requirements.
- Document all required information accurately in the electronic documentation system and maintain patient records per policy.
- Record treatment minutes in accordance with regulatory and clinical standards.
- Participate in required meetings such as patient care conferences, utilization reviews, and rehabilitation meetings.
- Attend facility and company-required trainings, in-services, and conferences.
- Obtain necessary durable medical equipment (DME) or supplies as required by clinical practice standards.
- Supervise and support Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) or Student Speech-Language Pathologists.
- Adhere to ASHA and State practice acts, code of conduct, and ethics during professional practice.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Speech Language Pathologist license in Texas
- Minimum 1 year of Speech Language Pathologist experience within the last year
- Certification of Clinical Competence (CCC) from ASHA
- Experience in Long Term Care settings
- Experience in Rehabilitation settings
- Completion of Level II experience (beyond Level I observation)
Facility Information
- Small facility with 75 beds.
- Short-term rehabilitation rating: Average.
- Long-term care rating: Below Average.
This position offers an opportunity to work in a long-term care setting providing comprehensive speech-language pathology services with a focus on regulatory compliance and evidence-based practice.
