Registered Nurse (RN) - Telemetry

Location: Fredericksburg, Texas

Unit Information

• Unit: 2 North – Med-Surg
• Number of Beds: 24
• Number of Staff: 36
• Shifts:

  • Day Shift: 1 charge nurse, 3 RN/LVN, 2 aides, 1 unit clerk
  • Night Shift: 1 charge nurse, 3 RN/LVN, 2 aides
• Patient Ratio: 1:6
• Equipment Used: C.O.W.s, BP Machines, Doppler, Bladder Scanner, Heating Pad, Hoyer Lift, Sara Steady, Sit to Stand, Traction, SCDs, IV Pumps, PCA Pump, Epidural Pump, Ambit Pain Pump, KCI & Prevena Wound Vac
• EMR System: Meditech Expanse (PCS)
• Floating Area: ICU for MedSurg overflow patients

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Texas
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Minimum 1 year of Med Surg / Telemetry experience within the last year
• BLS certification
• ACLS certification

Preferred Qualifications

• 2 or more years of nursing experience preferred

Typical Procedures Performed

• Daily weights, vital signs, intake/output monitoring
• Hourly rounding, bedside report
• Continuous bladder irrigation (CBI), cardiac and heparin drips
• Phototherapy, wound care, IV starts
• Patient admission and discharge
• Nasogastric tube (NGT) and Foley catheter care

Work Schedule & Policies

• 4-week schedule rotation
• Must sign up for every other weekend or 2 weekends per 4 weeks
• Holiday shifts required
• Request time off (RTO) must be pre-approved
• Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs
