Description
Registered Nurse (MS/Tele) - Travel/Contract
Location: Wilmington, North Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Day shift only (3 shifts of 12 hours; 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM)
- Hours per week: 36 hours
- Patient Population: Medical/Surgical patients
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:6-7
- Float Requirement: Must float to similar units at least once a week
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend, including holidays
- Unit Orientation: 24 hours
- Scrubs: Navy color required
- Unit Systems: Pyxis, EPIC, SBAR
- Special Procedures: Heparin drip management
- Scheduling: Based on scheduling gaps
- Must pass an EKG competency test for this specialty
- Contract staff may be assigned to Storm/Hurricane Teams and may be required to work during catastrophic events or disasters
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in North Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of Medical/Surgical or Telemetry nursing experience, with experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Experience with heparin drip management
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Background check within 6 months of start (clinical candidates)
- Drug screening within 6 months of start
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start (or proof of past positive TB with appropriate documentation)
- Required immunizations or titers: Hepatitis B, Mumps, Rubella, Rubeola (Measles), Varicella
- Flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season
- Photo ID (passport or driver’s license) required for badge creation
- Completion of Medication Safety module prior to start
- Completion of Novant-specific orientation and education modules, including:
- Confidentiality Agreement
- Tobacco-Free Campus Acknowledgement
- Hospital Policies and Acknowledgement Form
- Non-Novant Health Worker Clinical Education Checklist (if applicable)
- Must complete Novant Corp ID setup and I-Learn login within 24 hours of receiving credentials
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam must be passed with a score of 82% or higher within 72 hours of start; remediation process in place for failures
- Radiation badge required only if assigned to radiation-related areas (not applicable for this role)
Important Notes
- No Return to Office (RTO) after booking allowed; call-offs or additional RTO may lead to cancellation and Do Not Rehire status
- Contract length accepted: 13-26 weeks
- Candidates must be able to work holidays and every other weekend
- Navy scrubs required on unit
- Candidates must be prepared to work in disaster or mass casualty situations if needed
