Registered Nurse (RN) – Med Surg/Telemetry (Nights)

Job Summary

• Provide total nursing care coordination for patients in a medical-surgical and telemetry setting.
• May be asked to work as a backup Charge Nurse.
• Participate in patient and family teaching.
• Provide leadership by collaborating with ancillary nursing and patient care team members to maintain professional nursing standards.
• Float between Acute Rehab, Med Surg, and any unit within scope of practice.
• Call is required; must be willing to take call shifts.
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1 to 4/5.
• Average daily patient census: 22.
• Electronic Medical Record system used: Cerner.

Contract Details

• Contract length: 13 weeks.
• Orientation: 8 hours non-billable.
• No block scheduling or schedule accommodations allowed.
• Requested time off (RTO) must be submitted and approved at time of application; no more than 5 days of RTO allowed.
• Local candidates residing within 50 miles are not eligible.
• Candidate must have their own vehicle due to lack of public transportation.

Required Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) license in Vermont or Compact RN license.
• Minimum 2 years recent experience in Medical-Surgical and Rehabilitation nursing.
• Charge Nurse experience is required (non-negotiable).
• Prior travel nursing experience of at least 3 months is required.
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification.
• Current American Heart Association ACLS certification.
• Skills checklist for Medical Surgical nursing current within 1 year.
• At least one supervisory-signed reference from the past two years of employment.
• Must be willing to float to any unit within scope of practice.

Additional Requirements and Notes

• No travelers who want to work concurrently with another permanent or travel assignment.
• Strict enforcement of call-off policy: after 3 call-offs, contract may be terminated. Call-offs must be communicated at least 1.5 hours in advance to unit supervisor.
• Permanent address must be included in the traveler profile.
• All scheduling requests must be made at time of submission; no scheduling changes after offer.

• Small community hospital with 35 beds, including 25 inpatient medical-surgical beds and a 10-bed inpatient rehabilitation unit.
• Facility includes a therapeutic pool and physical therapy department, offering acute care, transitional care, and hospice services.
• Located in a historic town with access to outdoor recreation and local amenities.
• Approximately 3-hour drive to major cities such as Boston, Montreal, and New York.
