Nursing Position – Transitional Care Unit

Location: Hilo, Hawaii
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift Details:

• Scheduled 36 hours per week after first full week of orientation
• Must be flexible to work various shift lengths and days
• No guarantee of hours or shift preference

Job Description

• Work in a 32-bed Transitional Care Unit (TCU)
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:8 with 1:6 aides during the day; 1:8 at night
• May float to Medical-Surgical and Surgical Pediatrics units
• Use of equipment including Meditech EMR, Pyxis, wound vac, chest tubes, tube feeding (NG/G-Tubes), trach care, PICC/PORT lines
• Professional nursing attire required
• Orientation and department-specific training provided for each unit

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Hawaii
• Minimum of 2 years of Medical-Surgical nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• Experience working in a Transitional Care Unit
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• BLS certification

Additional Information

• Must arrive the Thursday before start date for employee health appointment on Friday
• Flexibility and adaptability to variable shifts and floating assignments are essential
