Registered Nurse - Telemetry (Travel)
Location: Denver, Colorado
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Hours per Week: 36
Unit Information
- Unit: 3rd Floor Medical/Telemetry
- Beds: 18
- Staff: 32 total (Day and Night shifts include Charge nurses, RNs, and 1 Patient Care Technician each)
- Patient Ratio: 5:1 RN to patient
- Equipment: Philips Monitors, Alaris Pumps, Dopplers, Welch-Allyn VS machines, Mobilab, Glucometers
- EMR System: Meditech
Job Description
- Provide nursing care on a telemetry unit with a focus on acute care patients.
- Typical procedures include minimally invasive surgeries, colectomy, ostomy creation and takedown, artificial airway creation and management, podiatry, and plastics.
- Common patient diagnoses: CHF, COPD, cellulitis, sepsis, DKA, pneumonia.
- Proficiency in tracheostomy and ostomy care is required.
- Work environment is busy and fast-paced, requiring flexibility to shift priorities.
- Team-oriented with a focus on good patient outcomes.
- Opportunity to precept and coach new nurses.
- Core staff work 4 weekend shifts per schedule period; travelers are typically scheduled similarly.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Colorado
- Minimum 2 years of telemetry nursing experience
- Telemetry nursing experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience with Meditech EMR system.

- Interested in mentoring and coaching new nurses.
