Description
Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Simpsonville, South Carolina
Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Float to other similar units or nearby hospitals may be required.
- Patient population includes Orthopedics, Bariatrics, and Telemetry unit patients.
- Medication system used: Pyxis.
- Must have at least 1 year of EPIC electronic health record experience.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in South Carolina.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Minimum 3 years of Telemetry nursing experience, with Telemetry experience within the last year.
- Experience in Orthopedics and Bariatrics.
- Current certifications:
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
- Proficiency with EPIC electronic health records system (minimum 1 year).
Experience & Skills
- 3 years specialty experience required for first-time travelers; 2 years otherwise.
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
- Experience with Orthopedics, Bariatrics, and Telemetry patients preferred.
- Proficiency with EPIC electronic health records system (minimum 1 year).
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Valid Driver’s License required immediately upon signing for computer access and must be carried on duty.
- Background checks including 7-year history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, and others must be current and compliant.
- Primary source verification of SC RN license within 30 days of start.
- Annual and pre-start health screenings and immunizations including:
- Physical exam within 1 year verifying ability to meet job demands.
- Negative TB test (True 2-step PPD, Quantiferon Gold, or Tspot) within 90 days of start.
- Required immunizations or proof of immunity: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap.
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required by deadlines.
- Drug screening within 1 year and updated annually (5-panel minimum).
- Respirator fit test completed onsite during orientation.
Orientation & Training
- Online Cornerstone modules must be completed pre-start (no exceptions).
- 16 hours of non-billable orientation onsite after arrival.
- Pass/Fail testing (medication and arrhythmia) required before orientation.
- Annual competency exams and core training modules (Parts I, II, III) required.
Additional Notes
- Badge photo required prior to start (passport-style, plain background, no alterations).
- Floating to other units or hospitals may be required.
- Must carry valid ID and comply with all facility-specific policies and documentation requirements.
This position is ideal for experienced RNs with strong clinical skills in orthopedics, bariatrics, and telemetry, who are comfortable working night shifts and floating as needed.
