Job Opportunity: PCU Registered Nurse

Location: Fishers, Indiana
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Specialty: Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
  • Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
  • Hours per week: 36
  • Facility Type: Short-Term Acute Care
  • Float Requirement: Yes, must float to Med-Surg unit
  • Locals not accepted (must be traveling)
  • Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays during the contract
  • Guaranteed hours vary by shift pattern (8, 10, or 12-hour shifts)

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Indiana
  • Minimum 2 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience, including PCU experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • ACLS certification
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • NRP certification
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Valid Driver’s License or Passport (clear copy)
  • Background checks within 90 days including:
    • 7-year address history
    • SSN Trace
    • County and Statewide criminal checks
    • National Sex Offender Registry
    • FACIS Level III
    • Education verification (may be pending at start if new traveler)
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
  • Official transcript or diploma (may be pending at start if needed)
  • State license verification within 30 days of start through primary source
  • Physical exam within 12 months of start
  • Fit mask test within 12 months (approved respirators required)
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months
  • Immunizations and titers:
    • TB test (PPD, QuantiFERON-TB Gold, or T-SPOT) within 1 year
    • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; no declinations accepted
    • Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; no declinations accepted
    • Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination required
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap strongly recommended (preferred but not required)
    • Seasonal Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (9/30 - 3/31)
  • Annual TB questionnaire required
  • Color blind testing (Ishihara exam or equivalent) with 100% minimum score
  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam and unit competency exam required

Additional Requirements

  • Must provide a minimum of 2 professional references from recent employment within 2 years; references must be from charge nurses, managers, supervisors, or higher
  • Current employment application with full work history and explanations for any gaps of 30 days or more (covering last 7 years)
  • Skills checklist completed within 12 months and updated annually
  • Must complete facility-specific compliance and orientation documents prior to start

Important Notes

  • Indiana RNs (except Perioperative/OR, Allied, and Ambulatory RN travelers) will not be allowed to work at this facility after 11/30/2024
  • Free parking available

This position offers a structured night shift schedule in a progressive care setting with a requirement to float to med-surg, suitable for RNs with at least 2 years of experience and all required certifications and licenses in hand before starting.
