Description
Registered Nurse - IMC (Intermediate Care)
Location: Charlotte, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day (3 shifts of 12 hours each, 6:45 AM - 7:15 PM)
Patient Ratio: 1:4
Unit Census: Maximum 24 patients
Job Description
- Care for an intermediate patient population sub-specialized in neurological and medical intermediate patients.
- Must be able to titrate Levo (levothyroxine).
- Teamwork approach required; must meet behavioral expectations in all interactions with patients and staff.
- Strict adherence to call-off policy; call-offs or additional RTO (return to office) may lead to cancellation.
- No call requirement.
- Float to other intermediate areas such as 6A or 5A PCTU, 5C Cardiac Intermediate, and critical care units (ICU/Stepdown).
- Weekend shifts required: minimum 3 weekend shifts every six weeks.
- Unit uses Pyxis, EPIC, and SBAR communication tools.
- Orientation: 32 hours total (8-hour computer class plus two shifts on unit after hospital orientation).
- Scrubs: Not provided; navy blue and white combinations acceptable.
Required Skills & Experience
- Valid Registered Nurse license in North Carolina.
- Minimum 2 years of telemetry experience, with telemetry experience within the last year.
- One completed travel assignment; must not be a first-time traveler.
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing.
- ACLS certification.
- BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- NIHSS certification.
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system.
- Ability to titrate levothyroxine (Levo).
- Experience with TR Band management.
- Knowledge and experience with IV insulin protocols.
- Experience with Continuous Bladder Irrigation (CBI) and pre/post hemodialysis management.
- Blood product administration skills.
- Central line care and management.
- Experience administering thrombolytic agents.
- Ability to titrate vasoactive drips.
- Experience caring for patients with aneurysms and repair.
- Experience managing spinal cord injury patients.
- Experience managing traumatic brain injury patients.
