Registered Nurse (Med Surg) – Travel Position

Location: Santa Fe, New Mexico
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

• Provide independent nursing care in a medical-surgical setting during night shifts (7 PM – 7 AM).
• Deliver routine and complex care, managing clinical contingencies and long-range patient care goals.
• Make appropriate assignments and delegate tasks to other care providers.
• Float to all Medical/Surgical departments as needed.
• Nurse-to-patient ratio typically 1:5-6.

Responsibilities

• Practice consistent with ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation.
• Address complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families.
• Administer medications and treatments per protocol, monitoring for side effects and effectiveness.
• Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided.
• Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, families, and caregivers.
• Meet organizational competencies related to leadership and professional practice.

Work Schedule & Requirements

• Night shift: 7 PM to 7 AM.
• Weekend shifts required: 2 to 4 per month, rotated among staff.
• On-call not required but may be requested if census increases.
• Blocked scheduling not accommodated.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Mexico.
• Minimum 1 year of medical-surgical nursing experience, with experience within the last year.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).

Additional Information

• This is a backfill/replacement travel assignment.
