Description
Job Opportunity: Echo Tech / Cardiac Sonographer
Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Work Schedule
- Day shifts, Monday through Friday
- 8-hour shifts (typical hours: 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM)
- Rotational weekend shifts (Saturday and Sunday)
- Variable start times: 7:00, 7:30, 8:00, 8:30, or 9:00 AM
- Possible call coverage as needed
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of cardiac experience
- Registered in echocardiography (RCS or RDCS)
- Graduate of an accredited ultrasonography program
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA)
- Must meet Wisconsin state caregiver screening and background check requirements
- Education verification required for ultrasonography program completion
Certifications & Compliance
- BLS (AHA) required; renewals must be planned in advance with proof of completion accepted during processing
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certifications may be required depending on unit assignment (check unit description)
- National certification verification required within 30 days of start and upon expiration
- Facility-specific orientation and safety manual acknowledgment required annually
- Pass/fail testing for telemetry or related exams may be required depending on assignment
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Tuberculosis (TB) testing: IGRA blood test or two-step skin test within specified timeframes; negative chest x-ray if history of positive TB test
- Immunizations or documented immunity required for:
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR)
- Varicella (chickenpox)
- Hepatitis B vaccination series or documented declination
- Seasonal flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption (required annually during flu season)
- Drug screening required per clinical standards
Background & Screening
- Comprehensive background check including SSN trace, county, nationwide sex offender registry, and Wisconsin caregiver screening within 90 days of start
- Background review required for any pending or convicted criminal charges (excluding certain traffic violations)
- Education verification and employment application required
- Two clinical references within the last 3 years required
Additional Requirements
- Photo for badge (passport-style, solid background, no headwear except for religious or medical reasons)
- Completion of facility-specific communicable disease form within 90 days of start
- Completion of required competency exams and medication tests as applicable
- Wisconsin BID form and caregiver screening results must be completed and stored in compliance file

- Candidates must be prepared to comply with all facility-specific documentation and testing deadlines
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position
- Physical exam collection is required to meet agency standards but not mandated by the facility
This position offers a structured day shift schedule with weekend rotations and requires a strong background in cardiac sonography along with compliance with state and facility-specific credentialing and health requirements.
