Description
Registered Nurse (RN) – Progressive Care Unit (PCU) (Days)
Location: Des Moines, Iowa
Employment Type: Temporary
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Work 36-40 hours per week; overtime billable after 40 hours
- Required to float across multiple campuses within the local area, including different medical centers
- Patient population includes CABG (coronary arterial bypass grafting), ICD (implantable cardioverter-defibrillator), pacemaker, cardiac drips, and vascular surgical patients
- Patient ratios: Days 1:4, Nights 1:6
- Unit is a telemetry tech monitoring unit with 24 beds
- Experience with cardiac drips such as Nitro, Cardene, Heparin, Diltiazem, Dopamine, etc.
- Scrubs color: Navy blue solids
- Must work 1-2 of 3 upcoming summer holidays unless the unit is closed (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day)
- Orientation date provided (example: 7/20)
- Use of EPIC electronic medical record system required
- Equipment experience required includes Alaris IV pump and wound vac
- Call back and on-call pay policies apply (not included here per instructions)
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Iowa
- Minimum 2 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience, including experience within the last year
- One completed travel assignment within the previous 18 months
- Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Current ACLS certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience working with Level 2 Trauma patients
- Valid driver’s license
- Experience using EPIC electronic medical record system
Additional Information
- Must comply with employee separation policy regarding prior employment within the health system
- Must be available for quick interview scheduling
- Required to float to other campuses as needed, including Iowa Lutheran and other local medical centers
This position is ideal for experienced telemetry or progressive care nurses with strong cardiac skills and prior travel nursing experience looking for a temporary assignment in Des Moines, Iowa.
