Night Shift Med/Surg RN - Contract Opportunity

Location: Pagosa Springs, Colorado
Employment Type: Contract (Travel Nurse)
Shift: Night shift (1830 - 0630), 3 shifts per week (36 hours total)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

Provide direct inpatient nursing care on the Medical-Surgical unit during night shifts. Responsibilities include patient assessment, monitoring, medication administration, documentation in Cerner, patient education, and coordination of care. Must be able to work independently, prioritize patient care, respond to changes in condition, and maintain safety and professional standards.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience in Medical-Surgical or Emergency Room nursing
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Current Colorado RN license or eligibility to obtain
• Current AHA BLS certification
• Current ACLS certification or completion within 3 months of hire
• Current PALS certification or completion within 3 months of hire
• Experience with Cerner EHR/EMR system
• Graduate of an accredited RN program
• Basic computer skills

Primary Responsibilities

• Provide direct observation and nursing care within RN scope of practice
• Assess and monitor patient clinical status (respiratory, cardiovascular, neurological, gastrointestinal, genitourinary, pain, comfort, skin integrity, mental status)
• Identify and report changes in patient condition to appropriate providers
• Safely administer medications, IV therapy, blood products, and other treatments
• Complete required documentation in Cerner, including assessments, care plans, nursing tasks, patient education, and treatments
• Coordinate care using SBAR communication and approved handoff procedures
• Demonstrate knowledge of cardiac monitoring and respond appropriately to rhythm changes
• Maintain patient safety, confidentiality, infection prevention, and professional standards throughout the shift

• Night shift schedule requires working independently and managing patient care priorities during overnight hours
• Contract length is approximately 13 weeks
