Registered Nurse – ER (Emergency Room)

Location: Hillsboro, Kansas
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Assignment Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night shift, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each)

Job Description

• Work primarily in the Emergency Room with Med/Surg float responsibilities.
• Start date: July 24

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Kansas.
• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, with at least some experience within the last year.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.

Required Documentation & Compliance

• Unexpired government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID).
• Background checks within 1 year, including SS Trace, County searches (7 years), Nationwide, Sex Offender, EPLS/GSA/SAM, and HHS/OIG checks.
• Primary source verification of state nursing license and NURSYS verification prior to start.
• Signed facility-specific documents including confidentiality, HIPAA acknowledgment, HIPAA violation policy, computer agreement, and employee information form (due within 48 hours of contract signing).
• Physical exam within 12 months of start date.
• N95 Fit Test within 1 year of start (must include mask model and size).
• Immunizations and health requirements:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
  • Negative TB test (2-Step PPD, Q Gold, or TSpot) within 1 year or chest X-ray within 5 years if positive PPD
  • Annual TB questionnaire if applicable
  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: 2 vaccines or positive titer (exempt if born before 1957)
  • Hepatitis B: Series, titer, or declination accepted
  • Varicella: 2 vaccines, titer, or history of chickenpox
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or declination (Oct-April)
  • COVID vaccination, declination, or exemption (boosters not required)
• Drug screen within 12 months of start (instant acceptable).
• Completion of skills checklist and medication/pharmacology competency exams as applicable.
• Two professional references within 3 years of hire.

Additional Information

• Blocked scheduling (grouping shifts together) is allowed.
• Facility requires acknowledgment of Joint Commission Training Safety Manual annually.
