Registered Nurse - Emergency Department
Location: Austin, Texas
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Days
Hours per Week: 36
On-Call: No on-call required
Unit Overview
- Unit Type: Emergency Room
- Beds: 48 private rooms, 27 hallway stretchers, 9 Fast Track beds, 5 behavioral health beds
- Staffing: 111 total staff
- Day Shift Staff: Charge nurse + 11, multiple mid-shifts (9a, 11a, 1p, 3p), 2 Patient Care Technicians (PCTs), 1 Paramedic, 1 Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN)
- Night Shift Staff: Similar to day shift
- Patient Ratios:
- Emergency Department: 1 nurse to 4 patients
- Behavioral Health: 1 nurse to 5 patients
- Cardiac/Trauma: 1 nurse to 3 patients
- Equipment: Alaris pumps, Belmont and Level 1 Rapid infusers, Stryker stretchers
- Electronic Medical Record (EMR): MEDITECH

Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
- Minimum 1 year of Emergency Department (ED) experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention Training)
- Cardiac Rhythm Identification Assessment
