Description
Registered Nurse – Med/Surg Telemetry (Travel/Contract)
Location: Warrensville Heights, Ohio
Shift: Night, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Provide nursing care on a Medical/Surgical Telemetry unit during night shifts.
- Work either 36 or 48-hour shifts (declare preference upon submission).
- Must work at least every other holiday.
- Orientation includes ECG rhythm recognition and medication administration competency testing (SafeMedicate) with required passing scores.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Ohio.
- Minimum 18 months (1.5 years) recent Med/Surg Telemetry nursing experience within the last year.
- Current ACLS certification.
- Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Valid driver’s license.
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID (e.g., driver’s license) must be carried on assignment.
- Background check including 7-year FCRA-compliant search, education verification, and fingerprinting (FBI and BCI) completed within 12 months and updated annually. Fingerprinting must be done within 48 hours of contract signing.
- Primary source verification of RN license and NURSYS verification within 30 days of start.
- Physical exam within 1 year confirming ability to safely perform job functions.
- Fit mask test (N95) within 12 months, updated annually.
- Immunizations and health screenings required:
- Tdap every 10 years (no declinations accepted).
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray with annual questionnaire if history positive.
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccinations or positive titers with boosters if needed.
- Hepatitis B vaccination/titer or declination.
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer with booster if needed.
- Annual flu vaccination (no declinations accepted; medical/religious exemptions require agency approval).
- Drug screening: Standard 10-panel within 12 months, updated annually (instant tests not accepted).
- Snellen eye exam within 1 year.
Orientation & Training
- Completion of facility-specific online onboarding modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome).
- Modules include training videos and tests that cannot be skipped.
- Modules typically take multiple days to complete and must be finished before clearance to start.
- Facility will cover up to 4 hours of module time.
Additional Requirements
- Two professional references from the past year, preferably from a manager, supervisor, or charge nurse.
- Employment application including at least 3 years of prior work history with 2 years in acute care and similar clinical area.
- Pass facility baseline competency exams during orientation (medication administration and ECG interpretation).
- Must complete all required health and background documentation prior to start.
Notes
- Candidates can start with fingerprinting results pending if fingerprinting is completed before start date.
- Returning candidates with less than a 6-month gap may have some requirements waived (e.g., SafeMedicate prep materials, orientation retesting).
- Facility accommodates latex allergies with notification.
- Religious and medical exemptions for vaccines and fit mask are accepted but require agency and facility approval.
This position is ideal for experienced Med/Surg Telemetry RNs licensed in Ohio or compact states who are comfortable working night shifts and meeting comprehensive compliance and orientation requirements.
