Pediatric PACU Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Indianapolis, Indiana
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Specialty: Pediatric Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Registered Nurse
- Facility Type: Short-Term Acute Care

- Shift: Day shift, 4 shifts of 10 hours each (10:00 AM – 8:30 PM)
- Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week (8 or 10-hour shifts also possible)
- Holiday Requirement: Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Indiana
- Minimum 2 years of Pediatric PACU (Post Anesthetic Care) experience
- Pediatric PACU experience within the last year
- BLS issued by American Heart Association
- ACLS
- PALS issued by American Heart Association
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Valid Driver’s License or Passport (clear copy)
- Background checks within 90 days including:
- 7-year address/work history verification
- SSN Trace, County Criminal, Statewide, National Sex Offender, FACIS Level III
- Education verification (may be pending at start)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
- Official Transcript or Diploma (may be pending at start)
- State license verification within 30 days of start through primary source (IN.gov)
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required
- Unit competency exam required
- Color Blind Testing (Ishihara exam or equivalent, 100% minimum score)
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Fit mask test within 12 months (approved respirators only)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months (no instant tests)
- Immunizations and titers required:
- Tuberculosis test (PPD, QuantiFERON-TB Gold, or T-SPOT) within 1 year
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required (no declinations)
- Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required (no declinations or history accepted)
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination required
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap strongly recommended (not required)
- Seasonal Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually (no declinations accepted)
- TB Questionnaire updated annually
Additional Requirements
- Minimum 2 professional references from recent employment verified within 2 years; references must be from charge nurses, managers, supervisors, or above
- Current employment application with full work history and explanations for gaps over 30 days
- Skills checklist completed within 12 months and updated annually
- Completion of facility-specific compliance and confidentiality forms prior to start
- Must complete mandatory orientation and safety acknowledgments as required by the facility
Important Notes
- Indiana RN travelers in Perioperative/OR specialties (including PACU) are exempt from the restriction effective 11/30/2024 that limits IN RN travelers at this facility.
- On-site fit testing is limited and requires prior approval; PAPR use requires facility approval.
- Candidates must be prepared to complete all required documentation and competency modules before orientation.
- This position accepts first-time travelers and locals.
