Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical (Night Shift)

Location: Albuquerque, New Mexico
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Shift: Night (3 shifts of 12 hours each; 18:30 to 7:00)
• Weekly Hours: 36 hours (option for 36 or 48 hours; overtime applies over 48 hours)
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:6
• Unit size: 32 beds
• No call required; floating to similar units possible
• Weekend requirement: 6 weekend shifts within 6 weeks
• Charting system: Epic
• Rapid response team activation involved
• Unit accepts first-time travel nurses

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in New Mexico
• Minimum 1 year of Medical Surgical nursing experience within the last year
• BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Drivers License/State ID required
• Background checks including 7-year history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG required upon hire
• Fingerprinting required onsite during orientation (New Mexico placements only)
• Education verification of highest level required (transcript/diploma accepted as placeholder if needed)
• Physical exam within 12 months of start
• Fit test for approved masks required within 1 year of start, renewed annually (fit test done onsite)
• Immunizations and health screenings required:

  • Adult TDAP vaccine within 10 years (no declinations except approved medical exemptions)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (with additional requirements if positive)
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella: positive titer or 2 vaccines required (boosters if titers negative/equivocal)
  • Hepatitis B: positive titer, series, or declination accepted
  • Varicella: positive titer, 2 vaccines, or physician-documented chickenpox history required
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
• Photo for badge required
• Employment application/resume required
• 7-year work history verification required

Additional Information

• Orientation includes safety manual acknowledgment and HIPAA compliance
• No references required for clearance, but internal professional references may be requested
• Candidates can attend orientation and Epic training pending fingerprint clearance but cannot work until clearance is received
• Floating to like units may be required
