Description
Registered Nurse – Cardiac Telemetry (Travel/Contract)
Location: Seneca, South Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Nights, either 3x12 or 4x12 hour shifts (1900-0730)
- Hours per week: 48
- Floating: Required to float to like units within the hospital or nearby hospitals as needed
- Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend, subject to change based on need
- Patient Population: Adult patients in observation status and inpatient overflow
- Common Diagnoses:
- Chest pain/acute coronary syndrome
- Cardiac arrhythmias
- Diabetes
- Syncope
- Permanent pacemaker insertion
- CVA/TIA/stroke work-up
- Pneumonia
- Heart failure
- COPD
- Sepsis
- GI bleed
Clinical Responsibilities
- Cardiac/Telemetry monitoring including permanent pacemaker pacing
- Pulse oximetry monitoring
- Patient assessment and acute nursing care
- Coordination of testing and procedures
- Collaboration with providers and multidisciplinary teams to develop patient-specific plans of care
- Consultations with specialty services such as cardiology, general surgery, orthopedics, and neurology
- Special procedures including:
- Transesophageal echocardiogram (TEE)
- Negative pressure isolation (AFB)
- Thoracentesis/Paracentesis
- Level 3 administration of continuous IV infusions and IV push medications per policy
Required Qualifications
- License: South Carolina Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Experience: Minimum 1 year of RN experience in the field (specialty experience not explicitly higher)
- Electronic Medical Record: At least 1 year of EPIC experience required
- Certifications:
- ACLS (American Heart Association or ARC, RQI acceptable)
- BLS (American Heart Association or ARC, RQI acceptable)
- NIH Stroke Scale Certification
- Willing to consider first-time travel nurses depending on experience
Systems & Equipment
- Medication dispensing systems: Pyxis and Omnicell
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Valid Driver’s License required immediately upon signing for computer access and must be carried on duty
- Background checks including 7-year history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, and others as required
- Primary source verification of RN license within 30 days of start
- Annual and pre-start health documents including:
- Physical exam within 1 year attesting ability to meet physical demands
- Immunizations and titers (e.g., TB, Hepatitis B, MMR, Varicella, Flu vaccine or exemption)
- Drug screening within 1 year, updated annually
- Fit mask/respirator fit test completed onsite during orientation
- Completion of online orientation modules and pass/fail testing prior to start (approximately 12-16 hours total)
- Floating policy acknowledgment required annually
Orientation & Training
- Online modules must be completed within 72 hours of assignment and before starting onsite
- Pass/fail testing on medication and arrhythmia knowledge required before orientation
- 16 hours of non-billable orientation onsite after arrival
Additional Notes
- Facility is latex-free; latex allergies are acceptable
- Floating may require working in multiple units or nearby hospitals
- Candidates must be prepared for night shifts and weekend rotations
- Badge photo required prior to start with specific background and quality requirements
This position is ideal for experienced RNs with cardiac telemetry skills and EPIC experience who are comfortable working night shifts and floating as needed. First-time travelers may be considered based on experience.
