Description
Job Opportunity: Oncology Clinic Registered Nurse
Location: Baltimore, Maryland
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 8 weeks
Work Schedule
- Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
- 40 hours per week, no weekends
Patient Population & Setting
- Adult patients
- Work settings include Infusion Center, Inpatient Oncology, Outpatient Oncology
Patient Ratio
- Nurse to patient ratio: 1:6
Required Skills & Experience
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience in oncology or infusion/chemotherapy clinic settings
- Must have completed at least 1 prior travel assignment
- Candidates with 1.5 to less than 2 years of steady, continuous experience in Maryland may be considered
- Experience with Cerner electronic health record system required
Clinical Skills
- Chemotherapy administration and certification required
- Body fluid handling post-chemotherapy
- IV push administration of chemotherapy
- Administration of coagulation factors, antifungals, antivirals
- Blood and blood product administration
- Care and management of ports and PICC lines
- Infusion pump management
- Intravenous hydration and multivitamin administration
- Starting IVs
- Antibiotic medication administration
Certifications & Licenses
- Registered Nurse license valid in Maryland required
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (AHA or ARC) required
- Chemotherapy certification required
- Flu vaccine required (seasonal vaccination or approved exemption)
Additional Requirements
- Valid driver’s license required if driving is an essential job function
- Criminal background check within 90 days of start, including multi-state and federal searches
- Drug screening within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, with additional requirements if history of TB
- Annual physical exam confirming ability to perform work without accommodations and free from communicable disease
- N95 fit test within 9 months of start, updated annually (client may complete onsite if needed)
- Completion of facility-specific orientation modules prior to start
- Two positive supervisory references supporting at least 2 years of experience within the last 3 years
- Complete 7 years of work history with no gaps, including education, employment, license, and contact information
- Medication and pharmacology competency exams required prior to start and updated every 3 years (minimum 80% passing score)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required annually with specific scoring criteria for lethal rhythms (applicable to certain units)

This position offers a day shift with no weekends, focused on adult oncology patients in infusion and clinical settings, requiring strong chemotherapy and infusion nursing skills along with travel experience.
