Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse
Location: Spokane, Washington
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Position floats between units within Labor & Delivery.
- Night shift: 4 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM to 7:00 AM).
- Weekend shifts required, but not every weekend.
- Patient ratios: Labor 1:2, Antepartum 1:3.
- Special requirements include managing acute care high-risk labor and delivery cases such as pre-eclampsia, diabetes, multiples, VBAC/TOLAC, active labor management, induction/augmentation, and maternal emergencies.
- 48-hour shifts are approved.
Facility Type
- Short Term Acute Care facility.
- Level II Trauma Center and Level II Pediatric Trauma Center.
- Teaching hospital with 629 staffed beds.
- Electronic charting system: Epic.
- Free parking available.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Washington state.
- Minimum of 1 year of Labor and Delivery experience, with experience within the last year required.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Certifications:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation.
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) issued by American Heart Association.
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) current certification.
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID).
- Social Security Card (as applicable for I9 and state requirements).
- Background check within 90 days covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years; must be updated annually.
- Education verification for nursing degree; international education requires diploma/transcript or CES report.
- NURSYS license verification for all RNs.
- Employment application covering at least the last 5 years of employment with month/year format.
- Minimum of 2 professional references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting within the last 3 years.
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO, indicating ability to work with or without accommodation.
- Immunizations and health screenings:
- TDAP vaccine within 10 years or signed declination.
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually.
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer with acceptable alternatives or declination.
- Hepatitis B vaccination series or signed declination.
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer with acceptable alternatives or declination.
- Seasonal flu vaccine during flu season or signed declination.
- COVID vaccination record preferred; declinations accepted with adherence to masking policies.
- Drug screening: 9-panel drug screen within 12 months of start; instants acceptable.
- Respiratory safety clearance required annually for travel candidates starting on or after 2/5/2024.
- Fit mask test required annually for travel candidates starting on or after 2/5/2024; may be completed onsite.
Additional Requirements
- Completion of annual regulatory and specialty-specific training modules via LMS (Workramp), including:
- Annual regulatory requirements for all caregivers.
- Specialty-specific modules for Labor & Delivery roles.
- Regional core and specialty-specific modules as applicable.
- Passport-style badge photo with neutral background required.
- Float policy acknowledgment: candidate may be required to float to other nearby facilities.
- Epic training modules must be completed within one week of orientation; transcripts required prior to moving to per diem work status.

- Acute care setting with high-risk obstetric patients.
- Collaborative team environment with teaching hospital resources.
