Behavioral Health Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Job
Location: Salisbury, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Work setting: Geriatric & Inpatient Behavioral Health unit
- Patient diagnoses include schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, major depression, degenerative disorders (Alzheimer’s, ALS, Parkinson’s), depressive disorders, and schizophrenia-spectrum disorders
- Geriatric behavioral health experience is required
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:8
- Average daily census: 15 patients
- Unit beds: 14 rooms, 20 beds
- Shift: 4 consecutive 12-hour night shifts (18:45 - 07:15)
- Weekend requirement: Every other weekend
- Float requirement: Yes
- Call requirement: None
- Orientation: 24 hours on the unit
- Unit systems: Pyxis, EPIC, SBAR
- Scrubs: Solid navy blue or white
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of Behavioral Health nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Experience working with geriatric patients in an inpatient setting
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- MOAB (Crisis Prevention Institute - must be completed onsite within first 30 days)
Additional Important Information
- No Return to Origin (RTO) allowed after booking; excessive call-offs or RTO may lead to cancellation
- Scheduling is per unit needs
- Flu vaccination or approved exemption required; exemptions require medical or religious documentation and mask-wearing if approved
- Facility-specific documents and agreements must be completed prior to start (confidentiality, dress code, compliance training, etc.)
- Badge photo required immediately after signing contract (passport style, solid white background, business attire)
- Corp ID and I-Learn account setup required within 72 hours of contract signing to avoid start delays
- Orientation and training modules may take 8-10 hours for acute candidates
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam not required for this specialty
Summary
This is a 13-week travel Registered Nurse position on a geriatric behavioral health inpatient unit in North Carolina. The role requires at least 2 years of RN experience with geriatric behavioral health skills, BLS and MOAB certifications, and the ability to work 4 consecutive 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend coverage. First-time travelers are welcome. Compliance with extensive background checks, health screenings, immunizations, and facility-specific training is mandatory. No call is required, but floating to other units is expected.
