Description
Registered Nurse (MS/Tele) - Travel/Contract
Location: Wilmington, North Carolina
Contract Length: 26 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Day shift only (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; total 36 hours/week)
- Patient Population: Medical/Surgical patients
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:5-6
- Float Requirement: Must float to similar units at least once a week
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend, including holidays
- Orientation: 24 hours
- Unit Systems: Pyxis, EPIC, SBAR
- Special Procedures: Heparin drip management
- Scrubs: Navy color required
- Scheduling: Based on scheduling gaps
- Must pass EKG competency test for this specialty
- Contract staff may be assigned to Storm/Hurricane Teams and required to work during catastrophic events or disasters
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Medical/Surgical or Telemetry nursing, with experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Valid Driver's License
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Background check within 6 months prior to start (clinical candidates)
- Drug screening (9-panel, within 6 months)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start (with exceptions for past positives)
- Required immunizations and titers:
- Measles (Rubeola) titer or 2 vaccines (boosters required if negative/equivocal)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (or signed facility-specific declination if applicable)
- Varicella
- Physical exam (per travel agency standards; not required by client for crisis profile)
- Flu vaccination or approved exemption (mask required if exempt)
- Medication Safety training certificate (must be completed and submitted)
- Competency exams including:
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (must score 82% or higher; 3 attempts max)
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam
- Color Blind Testing (within 1 year)
- Orientation Safety Manual acknowledgment
- Confidentiality Agreement signed annually
- Annual Compliance Training (40 minutes)
- Facility-specific education modules and checklists (e.g., Non-Novant Health Worker Clinical Education Checklist)
- Corporate ID setup and I-Learn login proof prior to start
- Photo for badge (passport style, navy scrubs, white background, no head coverings except glasses)
Important Notes
- No Return to Office (RTO) after booking allowed; call-offs or additional RTO may lead to cancellation and Do Not Rehire status
- Contract staff may be consolidated to centralized office mid-assignment and preassigned to needed units
- Radiation badge not required for this specialty
- Must be able to work holidays as scheduled
