Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Travel Assignment

Location: Reston, Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each)
Hours per Week: 36


Job Description

  • Provide respiratory therapy care primarily in adult ICU, CVICU, PCU, Cath Lab, NICU, trauma, and medical floors.
  • Manage approximately 20-30 patient procedures per 12-hour shift.
  • Use equipment including Servo I, Servo U, 980 ventilators, Radiometer ABL90 ABG analyzers, V60 & Hamilton C1 BiPAP, and Resmed Aircurve 10 home CPAP.
  • Document care using Meditech Expanse system.
  • Perform ventilator management, emergency airway care, CPAP/BiPAP, high flow oxygen therapy, aerosolized medication administration, arterial punctures, A-line management, and 12-lead EKGs.
  • Work collaboratively in a small team setting with flexibility in assignments.
  • Floating within respiratory therapy areas allowed, but no charge nurse duties.
  • Participate in a close-knit team with strong collaboration among respiratory therapists, physicians, and nurses.
  • Opportunity to work with expanded NICU services and trauma service growth.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) license in Virginia
  • Minimum 2 years of Registered Respiratory Therapist experience, including experience within the last year
  • National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) certification
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
  • Experience working with neonate patients and NICU experience
  • Proficient in ventilator management, emergency airway care, CPAP/BiPAP, and high flow oxygen therapy
  • Knowledge of aerosolized medication administration
  • Skilled in arterial punctures and arterial line (A-line) management

Work Environment & Additional Information

  • Unit includes a 24-bed adult ICU, 4-bed CVICU, 24-bed NICU, and trauma services.
  • The ABG lab is CAP and JCAHO accredited.
  • Dress code: Caribbean blue scrubs.
  • The team is experienced and cohesive, with modern, well-maintained equipment.
  • Extra shifts and overtime may be available.
