Job Opportunity: CST/ORT - Operating Room

Unit Information

Unit: Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR)
Number of Beds: 2
Patient Ratios: 1:1
Staffing Support: Board runner, charge nurse, service line coordinators, ancillary assistance for room turnovers
Equipment Used: Belmont, Electrosurgical Unit (ESU), positioning equipment
Documentation System: Meditech Expanse
Floating Policy: May float to main operating rooms

Schedule

CST shifts: Monday-Thursday 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM or Monday-Friday 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM
RN shifts (for reference): Monday-Thursday 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM or Monday-Friday 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM

Procedures Performed

Open heart procedures including:
- Coronary Artery Bypass Grafts (CABG)
- Mitral Valve Replacement (MVR)
- Tricuspid Valve Replacement (TVR)
- Aortic Valve Replacement (AVR)
- Video-Assisted Thoracoscopic Surgery (VATS)
- Vascular procedures

Requirements/Qualifications

Valid CVOR Technologist license in Virginia
Minimum 2 years of experience as a CVOR Technologist, including experience within the last year
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Certified Surgical Technician (CST) certification
Experience as a Certified Surgical Technologist

Skills and Competencies

Teamwork is essential
Ability to scrub or circulate during procedures
Room setup and turnover
Obtaining disposables and instrument sets as needed
Advanced skills required:
- Sterile technique
- Central line setup
- Arterial line setup
- Belmont pump setup and operation
- Cell saver setup
Forward-thinking and proactive planning to anticipate potential issues
Excellent communication skills for direct patient contact and provider relations
Collaborative problem solving and issue resolution approach

Scrubs provided

This position offers the opportunity to work in a specialized cardiovascular OR unit with a supportive team and advanced technology.
