Description

Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse

Location: Tyler, Texas
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Work Schedule

  • Shift: Monday to Friday, Day shift (4x10 hours)
  • Hours: 6:30 AM to 5:00 PM (10 hours per day, 40 hours per week)
  • Includes a day off plus call

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
  • Minimum 1.5 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including experience within the last year
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Prior travel nursing experience
  • Experience in Orthopedics, Neurology, Vascular Surgery, and Urology

Documentation & Compliance Requirements

Licensure & Verification

  • Valid Registered Nurse license for Texas with primary source online verification
  • NURSYS verification required
  • Driver’s License or State ID required

Background Checks

  • 7-year background check within 1 year of start, updated annually
  • Includes Social Security trace, county searches for last 7 years, nationwide search, sex offender registry, and education verification
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required upon hire

Certifications (as applicable)

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • Chemotherapy certification
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
  • Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB)
  • NIH Stroke Certification
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute)

Competency Exams

  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam with minimum 80% passing score
  • Color Blindness test (online version accepted)
  • Core competency exams as applicable

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 12 months of start
  • Fit mask test within 1 year of start, renewed annually (specific mask types accepted)
  • Adult Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years (no declinations except approved medical exemptions)
  • Negative TB test (2-step PPD, QGOLD, or TSPOT) within 1 year; if positive, additional documentation required
  • TB questionnaire within 90 days of start for positive TB results, renewed annually
  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; boosters required if titers negative or equivocal
  • Hepatitis B: Positive titer, full series, or declination accepted; boosters accepted if titers negative or equivocal
  • Varicella: Positive titer, 2 vaccines, or physician-documented history of chickenpox required; boosters required if titers negative or equivocal
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31); declinations not accepted
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start

Location Restrictions

  • Candidates residing in the following Texas counties are not eligible for this travel contract:
    Henderson, Anderson, Cherokee, Rusk, Panola, Smith, Gregg, Van Zandt, Wood, Upshur, Camp, Hopkins, Franklin, Titus, Morris
