Description

Job Opportunity: Cardiac Tele Registered Nurse

Location: Wilmington, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Floating is required as needed, with potential to float every shift.
  • Shift: 12-hour day shifts (6:45 AM – 7:15 PM), 36 hours per week.
  • Weekend requirement: 5-6 weekend shifts (approximately every other weekend).
  • Patient population includes cardiac patients with diagnoses such as congestive heart failure, arrhythmias, and post cardiac catheterization.
  • Unit monitors cardiac patients and manages cardiac drips including Dobutamine, Amiodarone, Cardizem, Milrinone, Dopamine, etc.
  • Special procedures include sheath removal, TR bands, and femstop use.
  • Patient care involves pre/post cardiac catheterization and surgery, sheath removal, accessing ports, blood product administration, central line and PICC line management, and titrating cardiac drips (Diltiazem and Amiodarone).
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:6-7.
  • Orientation: 24 hours.
  • Scrubs: Not provided.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina.
  • Minimum 2 years of telemetry experience, including telemetry experience within the last year.
  • Experience in Progressive Care Unit (PCU), Direct Observation Unit (DOU), Intermediate Care, and Stepdown units.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Ability to interpret dysrhythmias and perform remote cardiac monitoring.
  • Experience with central line and PICC line management.
  • Experience with post cardiac catheterization care, including sheath removal.
  • Experience with pre/post cardiac catheterization lab procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Charge nurse experience preferred.
  • NIH Stroke certification preferred.

Additional Job Requirements

  • Contract staff may be assigned to Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team and may be required to work during catastrophic events or disasters.
  • Staff may be reassigned to different units as needed during the contract.
  • Self-scheduling per unit needs.

Systems and Documentation

  • Medication and documentation systems include Pyxis, EPIC, and SBAR communication.

Compliance and Onboarding Requirements

  • Background check required within 6 months of start.
  • Drug screening (9-panel) within 6 months of start.
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start; additional documentation required if past positive TB.
  • Required immunizations and titers: Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella.
  • Flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season.
  • Physical exam and references required per travel agency standards.
  • Completion of medication safety training and other facility-specific education modules.
  • Completion of confidentiality agreement, hospital policies acknowledgment, and annual compliance training.
  • Photo for badge required immediately after signing contract (passport-style photo on white background, business attire).
  • Must complete Epic training as required (test-out option not available for this facility).
  • Must complete bloodborne pathogens training review.
  • Must complete Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam within 72 hours of start.

Important Notes

  • No Return to Origin (RTO) allowed after booking; call-offs or additional RTO may result in cancellation.
  • Candidates must interview with nurse manager prior to finalizing offer.
  • Candidates must complete Corp ID setup and I-Learn login within 24 hours of receiving credentials to avoid start delays.
  • Radiation badge not required for this position.

This position is ideal for experienced telemetry RNs with cardiac stepdown experience who are comfortable with floating and working in a dynamic, acute care cardiac environment.
