Description
Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - ER (Travel/Contract)
Location: Maryville, Tennessee
Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
Hours per week: 36 hours
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Work primarily in the Emergency Room (ER) with possible floating to other units as needed.
- Weekend coverage every other weekend, subject to change based on facility needs.
- Medication system used: Omnicell.
- Documentation system: EPIC (must have at least 1 year of EPIC experience).
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Tennessee.
- Minimum 1 year of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience within the last year.
- Certifications:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification.
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) certification.
- Education: Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Experience with EPIC electronic health record system.
Additional Requirements & Compliance
- Background Checks:
- 7-year background check within 12 months of start, including SS trace, alias searches, and county/state checks for all places lived/worked in last 7 years.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and every 30 days thereafter.
- Fingerprinting required if applicable (e.g., if lived/worked in WV in last 7 years).
- Education Verification: Highest level of education must be verified; diplomas not accepted as placeholders.
- Drug Testing: 5-panel drug screen within 1 year of start, updated annually.
- Health Documents:
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, attesting ability to meet physical demands.
- Immunizations and titers required: TB test (True 2-step PPD, Quantiferon Gold, or Tspot within 90 days), Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (vaccination series, positive titer, or declination), Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (if working in high-risk areas).
- Seasonal flu vaccine or approved exemption required by specified deadlines (not required for remote workers).
- Fit Mask: Respirator fit test completed onsite during orientation.
- Photo for Badge: Passport-style photo with specific background and quality requirements must be submitted prior to start.
Orientation & Training
- Completion of online Cornerstone modules (approx. 12 hours) within 72 hours of assignment; mandatory before starting onsite.
- Pass/fail testing on medication and arrhythmia exams required prior to orientation (two attempts allowed, 84% passing score).
- 16 hours of non-billable orientation onsite after completion of online modules.
Competencies & Exams
- Annual completion of Core Parts I, II, and III training modules covering universal precautions, cultural diversity, pain management, OSHA requirements, and patient safety goals.
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam required annually.
- Color Blind Testing required for nurses assigned to ER and Pediatric ER (must pass with 100%).
Notes
- First-time travelers will be reviewed based on skill and experience; prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
- Floating to other units may be required based on facility needs.
- TNCC and ENPC certifications are encouraged but not mandatory for initial assignment; required after one year of continuous employment.
