Occupational Therapist (OT) - Long Term Care (LTC)
Location: Mound City, Missouri
Employment Type: Temporary
Shift: Days
Hours per Day: 8
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Screen and evaluate patients with cognitive and/or ADL (Activities of Daily Living) physical functioning disorders.
- Develop and implement appropriate plans of care following regulatory and clinical practice standards.
- Utilize standardized assessments and evidence-based practices to support clinical interventions.
- Provide rehabilitative, skilled, and medically necessary treatment interventions including:
- ADL retraining
- Therapeutic activities and exercises
- Modalities
- Use of supportive and assistive devices
- Assess patient progress and adjust treatments accordingly; evaluate treatment outcomes for effectiveness.
- Provide consultation and counseling to patients, families, caregivers, and other service providers.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and healthcare team members regarding patient progress, barriers, and treatment plans.
- Document all required information accurately in electronic systems and maintain patient records per policy.
- Record treatment minutes in compliance with regulatory and clinical requirements.
- Participate in patient care conferences, utilization review meetings, rehabilitation meetings, and required trainings/in-services.
- Obtain necessary durable medical equipment (DME) or supplies as needed.
- Supervise and support occupational therapist assistants, rehabilitation aides, and/or students.
- Adhere to NBCOT, AOTA, and state-required practice acts, codes of conduct, and ethics.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of Occupational Therapist experience.
- Experience in Long Term Care (LTC) or Rehabilitation settings is required.
- Valid Occupational Therapist (OT) license for Missouri.

- Productivity expectations:
- Evaluating therapists: 88-90% productivity
- Assistants: 90-93% productivity
- Typical treatment times:
- Medicare B: ~1 hour per treatment
- Medicare A and Managed Care: 30-35 minutes per treatment
- Caseload typically ranges from 7-12 patients per day, fewer for evaluating therapists with evaluations scheduled.
- Group therapy is allowed and helps with productivity.
- Each therapist typically has a dedicated device for documentation.
