Job Opportunity: Certified OR Tech / Surgical Tech (CST)

• Potsdam, New York

• Contract Length: 13 weeks

Shift Details

• Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
• Weekend requirement: 1 weekend out of 5
• One weeknight per week
• On-call rotation: 1 in 4 or 5, call hours 7 PM to 7 AM next day; weekend call from 7 AM Saturday to 7 AM Monday
• 20-minute call-back requirement
• Call house available if living outside call radius
• No local candidates within 50 miles

Specialty & Experience

• Specialty: Surgical Services
• Required: Minimum 1 year surgical experience
• Scrubbing experience required
• Robotic surgery experience must have
• Community hospital experience preferred
• First-time travelers are welcome

Patient Population & Procedures

• Preferred patient diagnoses: Infants, Pediatrics, Adolescents
• Special procedures/units include Orthopedics, ENT, General Surgery, OB/GYN, Urology, Podiatry
• Skills required include but are not limited to:

  • General OR procedures
  • Endoscopic sinus procedures
  • Laparoscopic assisted cases
  • Radical neck dissection
  • Tonsillectomy/adenoidectomy
  • Tracheostomy, Bronchoscopy, Colonoscopy, EGD
  • Appendectomy, Cholecystectomy, Colon resection (open/laparoscopic)
  • Hernia repair (inguinal/umbilical)
  • Thyroidectomy (partial/total), Whipple procedure
  • Abdominal hysterectomy, Bilateral tubal ligation, C-sections
  • Dilation & Curettage, Vaginal hysterectomy
  • Arthroscopy, fracture reductions, laminectomy/discectomy
  • Ankle fusion, bunionectomy, cystoscopy
  • Nephrectomy, prostatectomy, transurethral resection of the prostate
  • Aseptic technique

Required Certifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• NBSTSA (National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting)

Orientation

• 24 hours orientation

Required Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist with at least 1 year of experience, including experience within the last year
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
• NBSTSA (National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting) certification

Additional Notes

• Scrubs provided (grey color)
• Call house available for those living outside call radius
• Must be able to respond to call within 20 minutes
• No local candidates within 50 miles allowed

This position is ideal for Certified OR Techs / Surgical Techs with at least 1 year of surgical experience, robotic surgery skills, and a willingness to work a 3x12 day shift with on-call responsibilities in a community hospital setting.
