Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) - Travel Position

Location: Alamogordo, New Mexico
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Work Schedule: 5 days per week, 8 hours per day
Work Type: Full Time


Job Summary

  • Examine, test, diagnose, and administer remedial treatments for patients with speech and hearing disorders.
  • Evaluate patients using a variety of therapeutic techniques for rehabilitation of speech, language, hearing, and oral motor disorders.
  • Record speech samples and conduct phonetic analyses.
  • Document test results and recommend remedial treatment.
  • Perform evaluations focusing on receptive and expressive language skills, speech fluency, vocal and oral motor competence, articulation, and auditory skills.
  • Collaborate with associates and implement treatment plans using corrective exercises and special equipment.
  • Maintain active communication with patients regarding progress, problems, home programs, and other therapy-related issues.

Responsibilities

  • Report directly to the manager/coordinator or designee.
  • Assist with direction, supervision, instruction, and evaluation of supportive staff, volunteers, and students.
  • Interpret and carry out physician prescriptions; receive and write verbal orders from physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants per practice act guidelines.
  • Maintain good public relations and protect confidential data.
  • Use time, equipment, and supplies economically.
  • Ensure safety and welfare of patients and associates.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Speech Language Pathologist license in New Mexico.
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience as a Speech Language Pathologist, with experience within the last year.
  • Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
  • Membership in the American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA).
