Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)

Location

  • Towson, Maryland

Contract Length

  • 12 weeks

  • Adult primary care with possible floating to Pediatric/NICU settings (Peds/NICU experience preferred)

Shift Details

  • Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (18:30 - 07:00)
  • Every other weekend required
  • Holidays required as scheduled
  • Floating required to support all departments needing RRT coverage
  • No pre-scheduled on-call shifts required

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist license in Maryland
  • Minimum of 1 year of Registered Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association
  • BLS issued by the American Heart Association
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
  • I9 Attestation and E-Verify compliance
  • Background check: 7-year criminal history within 30 days of start, updated annually
  • Employment verification: 7 years of work history verification required
  • Two supervisory references within 1 year of start (one must be a supervisor/manager, one can be a charge RN if directly supervised)
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray per facility protocol, updated annually
  • Negative drug screen (9 or 10 panel including Fentanyl) within 30 days of start
  • Immunizations/vaccinations or proof of immunity required:
    • Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption (seasonal requirement)
    • Tdap (Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis) if working with children or newborns
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: Positive titer or vaccination series required
    • Hepatitis B: Positive titer or declination accepted (series not accepted)
  • Fit mask testing (N95) within 1 year of start
  • Facility-specific forms including confidentiality agreements, badge photo, respiratory protection questionnaire, and job description acknowledgment must be completed prior to start
  • Medication and specialty competency exams as applicable, with minimum passing scores
  • Color blindness testing required
  • Age-specific competency exam required
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required for applicable specialties

Additional Notes

  • Candidate must be prepared to float across departments as needed
  • Facility requires strict adherence to documentation and credentialing timelines to avoid delays in orientation and credentialing
  • Epic training test-out option available for eligible candidates
  • Respiratory Protection Questionnaire must be completed and submitted according to facility instructions (not uploaded to credentialing system)
  • Medical flu declination requires physician signature if applicable
  • Background checks include national and state-specific sanction lists (Maryland Medicaid Sanctioned Providers List)
  • Candidates declining flu vaccine must have a signed medical contraindication form
  • All documentation must be current and compliant within specified timeframes prior to start date

This position is ideal for experienced RRTs comfortable with adult respiratory care and flexible to provide pediatric and NICU support as needed during night shifts on a travel contract basis.
