Registered Nurse (Tele Intermediate) - Galesburg, Illinois

Job Details

• Hours: 12-hour shifts, approximately 36 hours per week
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Unit Beds: 26
• Patient Ratios: 1:4 or 1:5
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (Friday, Saturday, Sunday)
• Holiday Requirement: Every other holiday
• Call Requirement: None
• Floating: Travelers expected to float within the unit, maintaining a 1:5 ratio
• Orientation:

  • 1 shift hospital orientation
  • 2 shifts unit orientation (one day shift, one night shift)
• Scrubs: No specific scrub color required; may wear own scrubs (not provided)

Patient Population & Care

• Common diagnoses include CHF, COVID pneumonia, Atrial Fibrillation with RVR, tachy/brady syndrome, and syncope
• Telemetry monitoring includes central tele monitor tech with medications such as Cardizem, Lasix, renal dopamine, and nitro
• Respiratory support includes BiPAP, CPAP, and High Flow/Vapotherm; no ventilators on unit
• Hospitalist coverage from 7am-5pm; Advanced Practice Nurse in-house with e-hospitalist support after hours
• Respiratory Therapy available 24/7
• Pharmacy support available 24/7; nurses do not mix medications
• Charge nurse role includes patient assignments
• Nurse aides/techs ratio approximately 1:9

Required Certifications & Licenses

• Active Illinois RN license (or confirmation that application process has been initiated)
• BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) - AHA

Additional Requirements & Notes

• Must comply with a drug-free workplace policy; negative drug screen required for all panels
• Local placements accepted within a 50-mile radius of the facility
• Non-billable orientation hours: 12 hours
• No call shifts required; call off policy allows 12 hours off every 13 weeks without penalty
• Electronic Medical Record system: EPIC

This position is suitable for experienced telemetry nurses comfortable with intermediate care patients and night shifts, with flexibility to float within the unit.
