Description
Registered Nurse (RN) – Emergency Room (ER) – Nights
Location: Des Moines, Iowa
Employment Type: Temporary
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Work primarily in the Emergency Room with patient types including behavioral health, pediatrics, and adults.
- Patient ratio is approximately 4:1.
- Unit size: 18 beds.
- Care includes managing drips such as sedation and vasoactive medications.
- Must be able to read, measure, and interpret telemetry strips.
- Required to float across multiple campuses within the local area.
- Expected to work 1-2 of 3 upcoming summer holidays (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day) unless the unit is closed.
- Orientation is 16 hours.
- EMR system used: EPIC (experience preferred).
- Typical workweek: 36-40 hours, with overtime after 40 hours.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Iowa
- Minimum of 3 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Current TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) certification
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
- Current PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification
- Experience working with pediatric and adult patients in the ED
- Experience managing drips including sedation and vasoactive medications
- Valid driver’s license
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are accepted if they meet the 36 months ED experience requirement.
- Night shift position.
- Must be available for quick interview scheduling.
