Respiratory Therapy Travel Position - Illinois, Chicago

Job Details

  • Employment Type: Travel
  • Contract Length: 6 weeks
  • Shift: 12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
  • Guaranteed Hours: 72 hours biweekly (1 cancellation allowed per 2-week period)
  • Weekend/Holiday Schedule: Every other weekend and holiday rotation
  • Primary Location: Hospital setting with multiple units including ED, ICU, MSP, L&D, nursery, and outpatient diagnostic center
  • Float Requirements: Must float across hospital units performing respiratory therapy tasks
  • On Call/Call Back: Not applicable

Unit and Patient Information

  • Units are approximately 25 beds each
  • Respiratory Therapists typically cover 2 units, but not all patients require RT care
  • Patient population includes COVID-19 patients
  • Approximately 5 therapies delivered per round plus oxygen management
  • Each RT assigned to their own unit but collaborate as needed

Required Qualifications

  • License: Illinois Respiratory Care Practitioner (IL RCP) license required
  • Certifications: BLS, NRP, and CRT or RRT required
  • Experience: Minimum 1 year of respiratory therapy experience, including ventilator, EKG, and ABG skills
  • Unit-Specific Skills: Level 2 Nursery/NICU experience required, including low flow vapotherm and assisting with intubation or ventilator setup until transfer
  • Charting: Experience with MediTech preferred but not mandatory
  • Prior Travel Experience: At least one completed travel contract required (no new travelers)

Additional Requirements and Information

  • Must be able to work independently, manage change well, and complete tasks timely
  • Scrub color: Grey
  • COVID-19 vaccination required unless a medical or religious exemption is approved prior to start date
  • Orientation is bi-weekly with 12 hours of non-billable orientation; guaranteed hours do not apply during orientation week or holidays when the unit is closed
