Occupational Therapist - Outpatient (Travel/Contract)
Location: South Hill, Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, 5 days per week, 8 hours per day (8:00 AM – 4:30 PM)
Hours per Week: 40
Job Summary
Seeking a Registered Occupational Therapist for outpatient services at a community hospital. Local candidates are eligible to apply at the same rate.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Occupational Therapist license in Virginia.
- Minimum 2 years of experience as an Occupational Therapist.
- Occupational Therapist experience within the last year.
- Experience in an outpatient setting.
- Government-issued photo ID required and must be carried during hours of service.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications (AHA only).
- Physical exam within 1 year attesting ability to meet physical demands of the position.
- Required immunizations and health screenings including:
- Tdap vaccine or declination.
- Negative TB test (Q-gold/T-spot within 30 days of start or two PPDs with one within 30 days).
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella titers or vaccination/booster as needed.
- Hepatitis B titer, vaccination series, or declination accepted.
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption (no declinations accepted without exemption).
- Drug screening within 30-60 days of start (9-panel minimum, instant drug screens not accepted).
- Completion of required background checks including:
- Criminal background check within 60 days of start covering all states lived/worked in past 7 years.
- Federal and state exclusion lists (EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG) within 30 days of start.
- Completion of Virginia State Police fingerprinting as required (may start with proof of submission on file).
- Completion of Virginia Central Registry (CPS) search process within 48 hours of contract signing (may start with results pending).
- Two professional references required.
- Completed employment application/resume.
Orientation and Facility Requirements
- Completion of facility-specific orientation modules (~6 hours) during orientation week.
- Required competency exams including medication/pharmacology test and abuse reporting competency.
- Photo for badge must meet specific guidelines (neutral background, no hats or tinted glasses, clear facial expression).
- Confidentiality agreement required prior to start.
- Mask fit test within 1 year prior to start; appropriate respiratory protection required (medical fit test, PAPR or N95).
- Annual update of skills checklist as applicable.
- Completion of required safety and compliance training including HIPAA acknowledgment.
Additional Notes
- Performance evaluations will be completed at the end of the assignment; not required prior to start.
- Candidates must upload all required documents with appropriate expiration dates as specified.
- Candidates may start with certain background and fingerprinting results pending if proof of submission is on file.
- No onsite certification renewals; all certifications must be current at start.
This position offers a structured outpatient occupational therapy role with comprehensive compliance and credentialing requirements to ensure quality and safety in patient care.
