Description
Registered Nurse (RN) - ICU Travel Position
Location: Thornton, Colorado
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Hours per Week: 36
Unit Information
- ICU with 28 beds split between two pods:
- Pod A: 12 beds (opened 1/2019)
- Pod B: 16 beds (second floor)
- Staff: 42 total
- Shifts: Day and Night, each with 1 charge nurse; nurse-to-patient ratios typically 1:2, can vary from 1:1 to 1:3 depending on acuity
- Support: Critical care tech staffed 6 days a week, 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM
- Equipment: Pyxis, Plum Pump IVs, GE bedside monitors, Nelcor, Arctic Sun, Sub Zero
- EMR system: Meditech
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Colorado
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 1 year of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience within the last year
- Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
- De-Escalation skills in healthcare settings
Preferred Qualifications
- TNCC certification
- Experience with Meditech EMR
Typical Patient Population and Procedures
- Neurosurgical patients
- Trauma (currently Level III, upgrading to Level II trauma center)
- Cardiac arrest and respiratory arrest cases
- Alcohol and drug withdrawal management
- All ventilated patients admitted to ICU
