Description
Certified OR Tech / Surgical Tech (CST) - Travel/Contract
Location: Roanoke, Virginia
Specialty: Surgical Services
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Strong proficiency required in Orthopedics (total joints), Neurosurgery, and General Surgery.
- Experience with robotic surgery highly preferred.
- Exposure to big belly, craniotomy, and orthopedic trauma cases is highly preferred.
- Patient population includes neonates, infants, pediatrics, adolescents, and geriatrics.
- Work in a Level I trauma OR with 25 OR suites, providing 24/7 nursing coverage.
- Surgical services include general, orthopedics, neurosurgery, plastics, gynecology, oncology, robotic, ENT, ophthalmology, pediatrics, and sports medicine.
- Use of advanced surgical equipment such as ROSA, daVinci Si and Xi robots, stealth, O-Arm, and HIPEC.
Schedule
- Shift: 4 days per week, 10-hour shifts (11:00 AM – 9:00 PM).
- Weekend rotation required.
- Call rotation required, including occasional weekends and holidays.
- Must work at least one holiday during the 13-week contract.
- Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Surgical Technologist license in Virginia.
- Minimum of 1 year of Surgical Technologist experience, including experience within the last year.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Certification accepted: NBSTSA or NCCT.
Experience
- Must be proficient and experienced in orthopedic, neurosurgery, and general surgical services.
- Prior travel experience is not required; first-time travelers are accepted.
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Valid Driver’s License/State ID with an address more than 100 miles from the facility required within 48 hours of signing.
- Background check covering 7 years of history required within 1 year of start date.
- E-Verify or attestation required.
- Primary source verification of state license within 30 days of start.
- Physical exam within 1 year confirming freedom from communicable diseases.
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start.
- Fit test for masks within 1 year, updated annually.
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, updated annually.
- Required immunizations or positive titers: Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella.
- Two clinical references required.
- Completion of employment application/resume and skills checklist (updated annually).
- Completion of facility-specific compliance and confidentiality agreements within 48 hours of signing.
- Professional photo for badge required.
Additional Notes
- Locals are not accepted for this position due to radius restrictions.
- Candidate must review and acknowledge the contract staff orientation manual prior to start.
- Must adhere to call-off and holiday work policies.
