Certified OR Tech / Surgical Tech (CST) - Travel/Contract

Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week (Friday-Sunday), 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM (12-hour shifts)

Job Description

• Must have strong skills and proficiency in Orthopedics (total joints), Neurosurgery, and General Surgery.
• Experience with big belly cases, craniotomy, and orthopedic trauma highly preferred.
• Robotic surgery experience is highly preferred (experience with ROSA, Si and Xi daVinci robots, stealth, O-Arm, HIPEC).
• Work in a Level I trauma OR with 25 OR suites, covering a wide range of surgical services including general, orthopedics, neurosurgery, plastics, gynecology, oncology, robotic, ENT, ophthalmology, pediatrics, and sports medicine.
• Patient population includes neonates, infants, adolescents, pediatrics, and geriatrics.
• Must work at least one holiday during the 13-week contract.
• No local candidates accepted (radius restrictions apply).
• First-time travelers are accepted.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Surgical Technologist license in Virginia.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Surgical Technologist, with experience within the last year.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA only).
• Certification as a Surgical Technologist through NBSTSA or NCCT.

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

• Valid Driver’s License/State ID with an address more than 100 miles from the facility is required within 48 hours of signing.
• E-Verify or attestation required.
• 7-year background check covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years, completed within 1 year of start date.
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for contract renewals/extensions.
• Education verification of highest earned degree required.
• Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming freedom from communicable diseases.
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start.
• Fit test within 1 year of start, updated annually (masks: 1860S, 1860, 1870+1804S). Onsite fit testing available if needed.
• Negative TB test (PPD, QGold, or TSpot) within 1 year, updated annually; if past positive, clear chest X-ray within 1 year and annual TB questionnaire required.
• Required immunizations or positive titers: Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella.
• Flu vaccination documentation or declination form required during flu season.
• Two clinical references required (hospital evaluations accepted).
• Complete employment application/resume required.
• Annual skills checklist update required.
• Photo for badge with professional background required.
• Completion of facility-specific compliance and confidentiality agreements within 48 hours of signing.
• Orientation safety manual review and acknowledgment required prior to start.

Additional Notes

• Facility allows calling off 1 shift per 2 weeks.
• All scheduling requests (RTO, block, special) must be included in submission.
• The hospital is a Level I Trauma Center with 24/7 onsite nursing coverage.
• The role involves working in a high-acuity, technologically advanced OR environment.
