Pharmacist Inpatient - Travel/Contract
Location: Freehold, New Jersey
Contract Length: 26 weeks
Job Description
- Operational Pharmacist role involving review, verification, and dispensing of medication orders.
- Preparation of sterile and hazardous medications per USP standards.
- Management of controlled substances.
- Completion of medication histories, reconciliation, and patient education.
- Clinical responsibilities include performing clinical interventions, monitoring therapy for optimal outcomes, and providing drug information to healthcare teams and patients.
- Primarily day shift (8:00 AM – 4:00 PM), with some evening shifts (3:00 PM – 11:00 PM) as needed.
- Every other weekend required.
- Holiday shifts required (1–2 based on contract length).
- No on-call or floating required.
- Scrubs or business casual attire, any color.
- Must be fully vaccinated including COVID booster.
- Experience with Epic charting required.
- Experience with Pyxis and carousel technology preferred but not required.
- First-time travelers accepted.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Hospital Pharmacist license in New Jersey.
- Minimum 1 year of hospital pharmacist experience, with experience within the last year required.
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system.
- BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association.
- Must be fully vaccinated including COVID booster.
Certifications & Competencies
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or RQI accepted.
- Pharmacology Competency Exam within 12 months of start, must score >80%.
- Unit competency exam within 12 months of start, must score >80%.
Health & Background Requirements
- Background check within 30 days of start covering past 7 years, including state police, federal criminal, sex offender, OIG/SAM, education verification, and more. Must be completed through designated vendor.
- Physical exam or "Fit for Work" statement within 12 months of start including weight, height, and blood pressure.
- 10-panel urine drug screen within 30 days of start using MRO process.
- Immunizations and titers required:
- Positive MMR titer with booster if low.
- Positive Varicella titer with booster if low.
- Hepatitis B titer preferred; declination allowed.
- Negative TB test (IGRA Quantaferon Gold or TSPOT) within 1 year of start or 2-step PPD as substitute. TB questionnaire required if history of positive TB.
- Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season; declinations not accepted.
- COVID vaccination required; medical/religious exemptions allowed but declinations not accepted.
Scheduling & Work Hours
- 40 hours per week, typically 5 days x 8 hours.
- Day shift primarily, with some evening shifts as needed.
- Every other weekend and 1–2 holidays required.
Additional Information
- RTLS badge may be issued; traveler responsible for $37.50 fee if lost or not returned.
- Photo for badge must be passport style (headshot, shoulders up, no hats/masks/sunglasses, white or neutral background).
- Several time-sensitive facility-specific documents and attestations must be completed within 48 hours of signing, including email access, security access, and privacy/confidentiality statements.
- Two current references related to the position required, completed by a supervisor or manager within the past 2 years.
- Employment application or resume required.

- Work history verification for past 2 years required, with specific New Jersey state mandates for verification.
