Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Job in Greensboro, North Carolina
Position Details
- Job Title: Registered Nurse
- Location: Greensboro, North Carolina
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
- Schedule: Every other weekend and holidays as needed
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Unit: Medical-Surgical with Telemetry capability (patient population primarily Medical-Surgical)
- Float: Required to float across all facilities as needed
Requirements & Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical / Telemetry nursing experience
- Medical-Surgical / Telemetry experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Pass/fail EKG (Dysrhythmia) exam
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement
- Acknowledgement of Pass/Fail Testing
- Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing
Licensure & Certifications
- Additional certifications may be preferred depending on unit (verify with manager):
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)
- NIH Stroke Certification (required for Cardiac Progressive Care and MS/Tele units)
- EPIC electronic health record system experience preferred
Job Responsibilities & Patient Population
- Care for patients with:
- Observation status
- Respiratory conditions
- General Medical-Surgical diagnoses
- Palliative, End of Life, Hospice care
- Psychiatric observation
- Diabetes management (including new and complicated cases)
- Surgical and surgical observation patients
Compliance & Onboarding Requirements
- Must complete a background check within 60 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in the past 7 years
- Provide government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID) and Social Security Card for badge issuance
- Education verification required: Associate’s degree in nursing or higher
- Pass EPIC test (2 attempts allowed, 80% or higher to pass)
- Submit a professional badge photo meeting strict facility guidelines (no selfies, solid color background, business casual or uniform attire)
- Complete health documents and immunizations including:
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 6 months
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine proof
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) immunity or vaccination series
- Varicella immunity or vaccination series
- Hepatitis B immunity or declination
- Seasonal flu vaccine or approved exemption (during flu season)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 40 days of start
- Fit mask test (N95 respirator) completed within current calendar year and updated annually
- Complete skills checklist annually with a one-week grace period for renewal
- Provide 2 supervisory references from clinical assignments within the last 24 months (at least one within 12 months)
- Employment application/resume with 7 years of work history required
- Verification of employment history for the last 5 years through a third-party vendor
- Must review and sign facility-specific policies including floating policy and contractor equipment acknowledgement
Additional Notes
- The client enforces a zero-tolerance policy for tardiness and unexcused absences
- Candidates must be flexible with scheduling and able to float across facilities
- Candidates will receive Workday login credentials two weeks prior to start and must complete onboarding tasks before arrival
- Fingerprinting is required only for Home Health and Long-Term Care positions (not applicable here)
This position offers a structured night shift schedule with a diverse patient population primarily on a Medical-Surgical telemetry-capable unit. It is suitable for RNs with at least 2 years of experience, including those new to travel nursing.
